The Syndicat National des Antiquaires appoints Henri Loyrette
President of the 2016 BIENNALE
Henri Loyrette, director of the Louvre Museum from 2001 to 2013, has been appointed by the Syndicat National des Antiquaires as President of the 2016 Biennale.
In this capacity, he will be heading the committee in charge of this renowned event which gathers the best art galleries, antique dealers and high-end jewellery firms at the Grand Palais in Paris. The committee will be responsible for the exhibitors' selection process and will search for new talents among antique dealers and art galleries, both in France and abroad.
Henri Loyrette will also help improve and strengthen the Biennale's partnerships with the leading cultural institutions and its international prestige.
A new impulse for the Biennale des Antiquaires
Voted at the extraordinary general meeting, on June 29th, the annualization of the Biennale des Antiquaires embodies the renewal of the event created in 1962 by the Syndicat National des Antiquaires (SNA).
The upcoming edition of the Biennial will be held in September 2016 and the annualization will be effective in 2017, leading to profound changes in its management and organization.
